For patients who are new to contact lens wear, it can be\ndifficult to know how to safely wear their lenses. How long you can safely wear\nyour contact lenses depends on the type of contact lenses you have been\nprescribed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soft lenses are the most popular type of contact lenses worn\nin the U.S. Three types of soft lenses include: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daily Wear:<\/strong> Daily\nwear lenses are worn during the day and removed each night for cleaning. A\nsingle pair can be worn repeatedly, and their length of use varies according to\nthe manufacturer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Disposable:<\/strong> Daily\ndisposable lenses can be worn during the day and discarded at night. Or\nprogrammed-replacement disposable lenses are worn and removed daily, but the\nlenses are replaced every two to four weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extended Wear:<\/strong>\nExtended wear lenses are worn continuously for one to four weeks before the\nlenses are removed and replaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although some contacts are made to be worn for an extended\nperiod of time, it\u2019s important to understand that the risk of eye infection\nincreases the longer you keep a single pair of contact lenses in your eyes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
