HEATHER FRENCH, OD
Dr. Heather French is an optometric physician therapeutically certified by the state of Oregon.
Dr. French’s residency at the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics in White City introduced her to the opportunity and beauty of the Rogue Valley. Her clinical experience has taken her to multiple VA medical and outpatient centers in the western US, including San Francisco, Palo Alto, Monterey, and Honolulu. Dr. French’s background at these clinics included comprehensive routine and diabetic eye exams, triage, medical and glaucoma management, and low vision examinations for visually impaired and legally blind veterans.
During her time in clinical externships, Dr. French also had the opportunity to provide comprehensive eye exams and medical management to a diverse population of disadvantaged low-income patients, including young children and elderly at Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland, CA.
Dr. French also served as a study coordinator for the Clinical Research Center at UC Berkeley, managing a wide variety of studies on corneal permeability, dry eye disease, and contact lenses. In 2012, she participated in a National Eye Institute (NEI) Summer Research Training Program at the University of California, Berkeley that concluded with the presentation of her honors thesis research findings. Additionally, Dr. French has co-authored several published research papers on the topics of cornea and continuous contact lens wear.
Outside the office, Heather enjoys spending her time hiking, running and skiing, as well as brushing up on topics to expand her trivia knowledge.
