Medical Eye Center Providers
Following medical school, ophthalmologists complete three years of comprehensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and abnormalities. Many doctors begin practicing as soon as they have finished their residency. Some ophthalmologists, however, choose to pursue a fellowship, which is an additional year of training that makes them experts in a specific area of the eye. This level of further education is generally considered optional, but many of our doctors prioritized additional training in order to provide the best possible care to their patients. While it is rare to find a practice with even one physician who has completed advanced training, many of the doctors at Medical Eye Center are fellowship-trained.
Paul Jorizzo, MD
Dr. Jorizzo is one of Southern Oregon’s most sought-after cataract and glaucoma specialists. He is a board-certified ophthalmic surgeon with advanced fellowship training in glaucoma. One of the most experienced cataract surgeons in the country, Dr. Jorizzo has performed over 15,000 cataract surgeries.

MATT OLIVA, MD
Dr. Oliva is a board certified ophthalmologist and fellowship trained corneal surgeon. He specializes in surgical and medical treatments of the anterior eye including cataract and refractive surgery, LASIK, refractive lens exchange, corneal transplantation, pterygium, corneal tumors and dystrophies, and complex dry eye.

CRAIG LEMLEY, MD
Dr. Lemley is a board certified ophthalmologist with advanced fellowship training in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery. “During my residency, I had an opportunity to spend an additional year working with one of the leading authorities in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Later on, I became particularly interested in glaucoma. I did a formal glaucoma fellowship after residency to enhance my ability to diagnose and manage glaucoma using medical, laser, and surgical modalities. At the Medical Eye Center, I enjoy a practice that blends cataract, glaucoma, and retina interests.”
After pursuing an international fellowship, Dr. Oliva spent a year in Melbourne, Australia to complete his intensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of corneal diseases and abnormalities. “My fellowship really prepared me to offer the latest in cornea transplant techniques and the other complicated cornea issues we treat here.”
